So I'll admit I'm just bad at keeping my blog updated with new pictures.
But uploading to an online album is easy enough for me!

Check back often because I'll (try to) keep updating :)

And visit my Facebook Page because that's where random pictures get posted! (you know, those ones that I take when I try to be photographer..)

Rosa & John Wedding

Rosa is an old friend from church, so we've known each other for quite a while. It's an interesting feeling to not only attend, but do hair and makeup for a "childhood friend"'s wedding :p

The above pictures is her Bridal Shower look - very simple makeup with wavy/soft curls.

For her bridal party, Rosa, being a graphic designer, came up with this genius idea to have her 9 (yes nine) bridesmaids wear dresses in different colors within a certain color range. It turned out super pretty and it totally makes sense when you have 9 bridesmaids!

And yes I feel very bad that I actually don't have any pictures of John.. If I ever get the professionally-taken photos from them I'll update.

Annie & Rob Wedding

Annie & Rob had a really really sweet wedding. When the girls were getting hair and makeup ready in the suite, Rob was being a good lunch delivery boy. And because he was not supposed to see the bride, he slipped a note (or a love letter) through the door to tell Annie how he couldn't wait to spend the rest of the life with her (awwww) :)

What a sweet couple!

p.s. and the gorgeous bouquet was hand-tied by Annie's little sister / Maid of Honor. I wish I had such a talented maid of honor...

The Sexy Valentine 2012

Hair & MakeUp: Betty Shaw
Styling: Sheryl Sun (Quill&Saber)
Model: Mercy

I wanted to create a look that's sexy but also "Vday-appropriate"-- that means it should not scare your date away during a romantic intimate dinner. You don't want to overdo the makeup and have the guy wonder how you'd look like without the makeup. The point is to look a little different, just a little sexier than usual.

The little black dress is usually well complimented by nice sultry smokey eyes, but instead of using black to "smoke" the eyes, I used greys and taupes to lighten things up.
I applied shimmering ivory to the corners of the eyes, then swept the lids with shimmering grey shadow. A layer of taupe shadow (slightly darker than the grey) is then blending in. I lined the eyes with black pencil eyeliner, then smudged and blended the eyeliner with a small brush and some black eyeshadow. This is an easy way to create the gradient smokeyness.
Then, of course, coats and coats of black mascara on both upper and lower lashes to open up the eyes.

Since the smokey eyes are the focal point, I used nude/slightly pink blush to give the cheeks just a bit of color. Then I used nude lipstick and sheer coral lipgloss to plump up the lips and make them kissable :)

The hair is curled with a big curling iron, and gathered to one side in layers. Not leaving all the hair down is a smart and subtle way to draw attention to your face. The front bangs are left long and just slightly curled to softly frame the face and to create that sexy and feminine look.

My Sweet Valentine 2012

Hair & MakeUp: Betty Shaw
Styling: Sheryl Sun (Quill&Saber)

To create the "Sweet Valentine" look, I decided on clean, soft makeup with easy yet romantic hair. Everything needs to look sweet and effortless.

The eyeshadows for this look were very low-key and subtle. I used light beige/ivory on the inner corners to freshen up the eyes. Then I swept on light pink near the inner corner, and blended light gold on the entire lid. A light dusting of shimmer or fine glitter in the middle of the lid will make the eyes sparkle. The result is: shimmering ROSEGOLD eyeshadow :)

I lined the upper and lower lash lines with medium-brown shadow with a liner brush, just to add a little depth.
Mercy has big eyes even without makeup. But to create those doll-like eyes, I applied long but natural false lashes. Then put on coats and coats of mascara on the BOTTOM lashes. Putting mascara on the lower lashes will open up the eyes vertically, making them rounder and wider.

I finished the makeup off with powder blush in light, neutral pink and light pink lipstick.
Although red lips are all IN now, a lot of guys don't get the fashion. So sticking with a natural lip color (non-pastel light pink/ orange/ pink nude) will make you feel more approachable and them feel more "safe".

I kept the hair simple as well.
Braiding the deep-parted bangs in the front frames the face in a feminine way. I teased the crown for volume, then curl ironed the ends of the hair to create flirty and bouncy loose curls.

Well, she's ready to fall in love :)
